cancelled: Dink 'n Drop Pickleball Palooza

Come on out for a fun, friendly, outdoor pickleball palooza! This is a friendly, recreational event. (Serious players, skill levels over 4, please take note). ALL teams will be considered "on equal footing" for this Round Robin format.

This Event is limited to 16 teams and registration closes 9/17/22, so sign up early! Complete one registration per Team.

A Team can be co-ed, all men, all women, an adult + youth (>12 yrs), mixed ages, mixed skill levels.

Each Team will be issued a team colored t-shirt, included with registration. T-shirt sizes are mens/unisex.

Each Match will be defined as best 2 out of 3 Games, played to 7 points with win by 1.

Each registered team will play at least 3 Matches.

The top 4 teams (based on number of wins) will play in the semi-final match. The final round will be played by winners of the semi-final matches. A Match for the semi- and final will be defined as best 2 out of 3 games, played to 11 points, win by 2 with win by 1 for 3rd game.

Bike Rodeo

Join Friends of the Parks for our FREE 2022 Bike Rodeo event!

Enter our FREE drawing for two 20" bikes! Must be present to win. Drawing at 10AM.

We want every rider to safely enjoy riding their bike around Person County, so join us and learn about helmet checks, bike fit, rules of the road, safety equipment and riding skills using our obstacle course. Goodies for all participants!

  • Saturday, 9AM, October 15 at Helena Park, 295 Helena Moriah Rd, Timberlake, NC

  • Free bike helmets and bike lights (while supply lasts).

Check back for details on this community service event that will be held in partnership with one of our local artists. Our plan is to provide an exterior, artistic facelift of the restroom building. (Tentatively) planned

Spring Spruce-up

Join us for a community service project to replant and mulch the flower beds at Huck Sansbury Park. We will be planting new Soft Touch Holly, Petite Knock-out Roses and Dwarf Green Velvet Boxwoods. Grab your garden gloves and spade and we'll spruce things up in time for the Spring sports season!

Stand Up or Sit Down! Whatever floats your boat!

Grab your kayak, canoe or paddle board and join us at 9:00AM for registration and Hints 'n Tips for 1st Timers. Paddle competition starts at 10AM. Certificates for the first finishers in each category. All ages welcome!

You'll launch at the boat ramp, paddle out to Bowman Bridge, turnaround and return to start.

Pizza and T-shirt. Fun for All!

WHEN: July 9 from 9:00AM to Noon. Race starts at 10AM

WHERE: Mayo Lake Park, Meet at picnic shelter #1 and boat ramp area.
